This is an excellent complement to the other new Midway film. It focuses on the danger of being a carrier plane flight crew, including the chance of being lost at sea. (In the also-excellent Japanese animation of the Oct42 carrier Battle of Santa Cruz, a Wildcat fighter pilot has to bail out, and you see him parachuting into the vast Pacific with the implication of little or no chance of ever being found so far from base (Espiritu Santo. If he hadn"t gotten those planes off early and if we hadn"t knocked out 3 of the 4 Japanese carriers, the battle would have gone the other way. Look how effective Hiryu"s counterattack (on Yorktown) was, and it was just one of the Japanese carriers. I would like to see verification of his objection to lighting up Enterprise and Hornet for night-time landings and his disregard of aircrew safety after the first crucial day. GOOD film, and I"ll be posting this on IMDb and H-Film.

I am a veteran and this was a hit. The special effects were good and I don"t understand why people were saying it was too much. The characters were evenly played out in the movie and there was no stupid romance part that was in the last Pearl Harbor movie. It told the story amazingly and it dived right into what it"s all about. You don"t need too much character development to tell a story of four people during that time. It was such a great watch and I Definatley recommend it. It ranks up there as we were soldiers! It"s been a long time a good war movie came out and this was it. And when you see other reviews about it"s a disgrace to veterans don"t listen to those reviews. Obviously they haven"t been through tough times such as how these people lived. I was in live fire so I can compare. Enjoy the movie is amazing.

75 years ago, and it still is remembered to this day. I salute every flier and sailor who fought at the turning point of the Pacific War, at a tiny island called Midway.

The Japanese are too ignorance. They had forgotten American firepower. I was pressured to see this by a friend. I soon found out this film is a comedy. I couldn"t stop laughing with the terrible acting. and the Jonas brother... aka the little engine that tried. I got up and cheered when he died. There"s a couple of good scenes, I thought the Pearl Harbor attack was better than the whole film Pearl Harbor by Michael Bay. And I liked the Doolittle Raid. and the fact that my generation doesnt have the bravery of the Greatest Generation. I don"t know if I could"ve done what these pilots did. I always think of this battle as the event that turned the Japanese flag from a rising sun to a setting sun.
